Yasaman Farmanara

Yasaman Farmanara is a Tehran-born, Los Angeles based designer and painter. After completing high school, she relocated to Los Angeles, California where she pursed studies in fashion design. With a career spanning over 30 years she worked as a textile print designer and in various fashion related roles.

Growing up in a middle eastern culture that views the female form as a taboo subject has instilled in her a deep desire to challenge those beliefs through her art. She uses her paintings to express a wide range of emotions. Her female figures serve as conduits for conveying the strengths, fears, desires, and vulnerabilities that we all experience as human beings.

Through the use of background and space, she creates an aura that reflects the emotions of the figures in the foreground. Through her art, Yasaman is challenging the cultural norms surrounding the female form and encouraging others to embrace the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
